Perhaps no textbook on these complicated and controversial subjects has been so favorably received by the profession as the work of this author. The book is now in its third edition, although the original edition was available only a few years ago. Facts on both subjects, ordinarily difficult of correlation, are integrated in such a well organized manner that the reader is able for the first time to get a clear understanding of the symptom complex. This is a most important contribution, since the vast majority of patients who suffer from hypertensive and renal diseases are cared for by those in general practice. Almost every chapter in this edition has undergone revision. Some of the discussions that have been added since the last edition are those on the nature and treatment of renal and hypertensive disease in pregnancy, allergy and hypertension, the use of acacia in edema, the therapeutic use
