To the Editor There is growing concern about the potential deleterious effects of high doses of vigorous-intensity exercise on cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality. Some authors discourage healthy people from engaging in vigorous exercise above a cardiac safety threshold of approximately 60 min/d.1 Recent controversy in the field might detract many people from regular exercise and clinicians from prescribing exercise to their patients.
