The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) wants Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants to buy more fruits and vegetables. To that end, the agency has announced $16.8 million in competitive grants to 27 projects across the country.
“USDA is committed to providing low-income families with the resources they need to consume more nutritious food,” Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a statement (http://1.usa.gov/1XeGAqe).
