In this edition there have been few alterations. It seems essentially to be a reprint of the former edition. There is little regarding vitamins, the probable importance of iodine in the diet, and no mention of the importance of the fatty acid: dextrose ratio in the management of diabetes mellitus, in the discussion of which the starvation management of Allen is advocated. Insulin is not even mentioned. In discussing normal diets a rather high protein content is recommended. This edition contains almost no references to recent work in dietetics.
