Dr. Major Gives Scripps Lectures.—  Dr. Ralph H. Major, professor of medicine, University of Kansas School of Medicine, delivered the annual Scripps Metabolic Lectures, January 10-12, La Jolla. The subject was "Bedside Clinics."

Personal. —  Dr. Alexander M. Lesem, director of public health of the city and county, has been chosen president of the newly organized San Diego Public Health Association.— Dr. John M. Wakefield, Sutter Creek, has been appointed health officer of Amador County, succeeding the late Dr. George L. Lynch.—Dr. Carlton C. Purviance has been named health officer of Fairfield, succeeding the late Dr. Henry V. Clymer.

Bills Introduced.—  S. 21 proposes to regulate the production and distribution of serums, vaccines, bacterial cultures and viruses and to require the licensing by the department of public health of persons manufacturing, preparing and distributing such products. A. 8, to amend the workmen's compensation act, proposes to extend the benefits
