In his preface the author states that thirty-seven of the fifty-eight clinics in this volume have not been previously published. The work is divided as follows: generalities, general therapeutics, true morbid entities and cutaneous reactions, ending with a comprehensive survey of the palmar and plantar keratodermias. Among the subjects treated are a general conception of the dermatoses, the objective and clinical syndromes, the microbic eruptions and gout, hygiene of the scalp, the external treatment of skin diseases, the intertriginous lesions in the female, the autotraumatic skin conditions, the lichenifications, dyshidrosis and the dyshidrosiform eruptions, the frontiers of lichen planus, contribution to the etiology of pityriasis rosea, parapsoriasis, the problem of the alopecia areatas and the atrophic alopecias. Anything by Brocq, because of his vast experience plus an unusually sagacious clinical sense, is worthy of close attention.
