This extensive laboratory manual provides directions for a combined practical course in physiologic chemistry and physiology. Most of the conventional material in both branches is described in an understandable way, and a great deal of explanatory material not immediately related to practical exercises is included. There is a commendable emphasis on the physicochemical aspects of biochemistry. A good deal of attention is paid to experiments on the glands of internal secretion, including exact descriptions of experiments on the gonads, in which field one of the authors has done a good deal of original investigation. The work as a whole suffers greatly from the absence of references to the original literature, although a great many names of investigators are mentioned. The large number of illustrations greatly enhances the value of the work to students, and the inclusion of a considerable amount of discussion and collateral information makes the work an auxiliary
