Abstract

The first edition of this book on malaria was designed originally as a series of lectures for military physicians in the World War. In the present edition the authors have continued to restrict the subject matter to facts of interest to the practicing physician. The first sections are the most extensive and are devoted to such clinical subjects as clinical manifestations and treatment in both malaria and blackwater fever. As would be expected, treatment is considered in detail and the newer antimalarial drugs are discussed. The more strictly clinical sections are followed by a general review of the entire subject of malaria. There are short summaries on such subjects as biochemical research methods for the study of malaria, pathologic anatomy, immunity, epidemiology, serology and hematology.
