In this monograph the author has correlated the recent developments of the subject of myocardial infarction. This condition, as the author points out in his introduction, is a leading cause of death and consequently deserves the attention of every practicing physician. After an introduction in which the historical background is surveyed, the author summarizes the frequency of infarction in his clinic during the last seven years and correlates it with the reports of other observers. A section on the hemodynamics of the coronary circulation follows, starting with the anatomy of the coronary arteries and including the normal and pathologic physiology, experimental studies on closure of the coronary arteries and the gross morbid morphology and histology of infarction. The rest of the monograph is devoted to the clinical consideration of infarction.
