Personal.—  Ernest O. Lawrence, Ph.D., professor of physics and head of the radiation laboratory, University of California, Berkeley, was recently awarded the Hughes Medal of the Royal Society, London, for his work on the development of the cyclotron and its application to investigation of nuclear disintegration, according to Science.—Dr. Solomon Strouse, formerly of Chicago, has been appointed associate clinical professor of medicine at the University of Southern California Medical School, Los Angeles.

Residency in Physical Therapy.—  A residency in physical therapy has been established at the Los Angeles County General Hospital. The resident must be a graduate of an approved medical school of recognized standing, must have completed satisfactorily one year's rotating internship in an approved hospital and possess, or be able to secure promptly, a physician and surgeon's certificate to practice in California.
