This book, which reflects the extensive experience of the authors, covers practically all aspects of hematology. Many features of the European literature which have been neglected in some of the recent American textbooks are emphasized. There are a number of references to American work, but the omission of the names of Minot and of Spies in the bibliography of pernicious anemia must have been an oversight. There are occasional lapses in spelling in giving English names and references (e. g. "Archives of Infernal Medicine"). Most of the articles referred to appeared earlier than 1939 except for two articles (1940-1941) dealing with the Rh factor. The chapter on the physiology and histology of the blood forming organs is quite extensive. The data on technic, including sternal marrow examination and splenic puncture, are given in detail. There is a liberal use of pictures, with some unusually fine colored plates and text figures.
