Abstract

Though it has been but five years since the appearance of the first edition, this revision was made necessary by the rapidly changing concepts and newer knowledge of histopathology of the skin. This edition, like the first, clearly reflects the modern views on the subject. The section on bullous diseases, particularly pemphigus, has been completely revised. In light of the newer knowledge of the histogenesis of the nevus cells, the section on the melanomas has been rewritten. The newly developed stained sections of cutaneous fungous infections are described, and many diseases of general interest such as porphyria, chronic beryllosis (beryllium granuloma), and ochronosis are also discussed fully. More than 50 new and well-selected photomicrographs have been added, and several old ones have been replaced so that the book continues to be an authoritative and thoroughly up-to-date work.
