This small monograph is an excellent primer and is unique in the way in which the subject is presented. It is profusely illustrated, showing the normal anatomy of the superficial venous system of the lower extremity and the various types of varicosities. Not only varicosities but also complications, such as thrombophlebitis and phlebothrombosis and pulmonary embolism, are considered. The various diagnostic tests are adequately described, both pictorially and by description. The treatment is discussed concisely. This is an excellent book for the practitioner of medicine.
