This is a most interesting monograph on a disease that is being recognized with increasing frequency in infants and small children. The importance of this disease is indicated by the fact that it is at least twice as common as diabetes mellitus and that the case fatality rate is high. The author has been interested in this subject for many years and is personally responsible for much of the present knowledge of the disease. The book presents a complete review of the subject and includes a discussion of the underlying pathology and pathological physiology, as well as a thorough description of the clinical features and management. The illustrations are well chosen and adequate. The bibliography is comprehensive. The material has been presented in a most interesting fashion and with unusual clarity. This book should be of greatest interest to pediatricians and others who deal with children and particularly infants; however,
