Abstract

This little book is well written and contains more information in fewer words than any other book on anesthesia. It covers material on the following subjects: history of anesthesia, respiration, preanesthetic care and preparation, premedication, inhalation anesthesia, agents for inhalation anesthesia, the closed circut, cyclopropane, controlled respiration, nitrous oxide anesthesia, accidents of inhalation anesthesia and how to treat them, gases used in association with anesthesia, endotracheal anesthesia, rectal anesthesia, basal narcosis, intravenous anesthesia, analeptics, spinal analgesia, regional anesthesia, refrigeration analgesia, choice of anesthetic as influenced by type of operation, choice of anesthetic and methods as influenced by general condition of the patient, the use of curare in anesthesia, shock, anesthesia in thoracic surgery, the complications and sequelae of anesthesia, explosion risks in anesthesia, management of the unconscious patient, anesthetic records and anesthesia and analgesia in labor.
