This book presents a summary of cardiovascular disease. It emanates from the National Institute of Cardiology of Mexico City. It is a good up-to-date survey of the field in which the author shows his familiarity with the literature. The book is divided into six parts. The first deals with the functional disturbances caused by cardiovascular disease, including dyspnea, cyanosis, pain and palpitation. The second part deals with abnormal hemodynamics such as are encountered in valvular disturbances and with an insufficient myocardium. A.discussion is presented on elevation of venous pressure, edema, ascitis, circulation time, blood volume and arterial hypertension. The third part deals with the clinical examination of the heart. The fourth part deals with laboratory tests, such as determination of sedimentation time, serology tests and the examination of the blood.
