Abstract

ARMY 

MEDICAL MEETING IN KOREA  The monthly meeting of Army Medical Department officers stationed in Korea on July 21 was sponsored by the Department of Public Health and Welfare, USAMGIK. The sixty officers and twenty-five civilian physicians and nurses who attended visited the Sun Wha City Contagious Disease Hospital in Seoul, where Dr. Y. S. Yun presented cases illustrating the various stages of syphilis and Dr. C. M. Myun, discussed the treatment of tuberculosis as carried out at the hospital. In the contagious disease section, several cases of smallpox and diphtheria were observed. In the afternoon, Dr. P. S. Han discussed the vital statistics available in South Korea. Lieut. William I. Rolph, M.C., Advisor to the Department of Public Health and Welfare, discussed the recent movement of refugees from Manchuria to South Korea, outlining the measures taken for the prevention of diseases among them.
