This book summarizes the progress made in certain phases of cancer research. Its reviews appear to be thoughtfully organized and include such subjects as the etiology of lung cancer, the experimental development and metabolism of thyroid tumors, new developments in the electronic structure and carcinogenic activity of aromatic molecules, carcinogenesis, pulmonary tumors in experimental animals, and the oxidative metabolism of neoplastic tissues. Each review is well documented by an extensive bibliography. Except for the review by Doll, the material is probably too didactic and theoretical for the clinician or practitioner; however, it should be of interest to research workers in the field of experimental cancer and should find its way into the libraries of institutions where basic cancer research is in progress.
