This is an excellent manual on surgical diathermy. Starting with a section on history, the text continues with a discussion of the employment of electrocoagulation, fulguration and the cutting current. Various types of apparatus are carefully described and there are many excellent line drawings of these devices. A clinical section follows in which there is detailed description of the employment of surgical diathermy in the treatment of cancer, in diseases of the skin and appendages, in gynecology, in urology, in lesions of the digestive tract and in lesions of the brain, pleura and lungs. There are also sections on surgical diathermy in otorhinolaryngology and ophthalmology. The entire book is well organized, the material is systematically presented and throughout the illustrations of apparatus are clear and understandable.
