The paper by Leibowitz, Chester and Markow is of the utmost interest. However, its conclusions that intradermal skin tests for food allergy conformed to clinical tests "in 35 per cent of all patients" contradict the findings of the authors. This ratio was found not in all patients, but in a group of 70 of them selected in a way which the authors omitted telling. In fact their findings are entirely different. For instance "Lettuce... yielded but one positive feeding test of 31 feeding tests completed... Milk, egg and wheat yielded only three positive tests in 57 trials." The only possible conclusion is that skin tests for food allergy, so questionable from the scientific point of view, have no practical value.
