Medical Progress Assembly in Birmingham.—
The first annual meeting of the Medical Progress Assembly, sponsored by the Birmingham Academy of Medicine, will be held at the Tutwiler Hotel, Birmingham, Sept. 7-9. The program includes 16 papers, including "The Evaluation and Management of Pancreatitis," by Dr. Charles Wilmer Wirts Jr., Philadelphia, president, American College of Gastroenterology. Two panel discussions are planned: "Care of the Injured Patient," moderated by Dr. Champ Lyons, Birmingham, and "Atherosclerosis and Coronary Disease," moderated by Dr. Tinsley R. Harrison, Birmingham. At the banquet, 7:30 p. m., Sept. 8, with Dr. Paul P. Salter Jr., Birmingham, president, The Birmingham Academy of Medicine, presiding, Count Friederich Graf von Saurma, assistant to Wernher von Braun, U. S. Army Ordnance Missile Command, will speak on "You and Space." Question-and-answer periods and a ladies' program are arranged. The assembly has been approved for 16 hours of General Practice Credit, category I.
