In order to relieve the confusion created by the note on the Stemma of Harvey in The Journal, June 11, page 711, I would like to point out that the description by Ruth Fox is not correct, as the candle is really a torch and is not entwined by "a snake" but by two snakes, which is an important item in the old discussion about whether the caduceus should have one or two snakes.
