Abstract

This handy book furnishes the diabetic patient with information which will help him achieve success in his treatment. It has been fully revised and is up to date. Among the chief subjects are the dietary treatment of diabetes, insulin, and the oral hypoglycemic agents. The book contains tables of the number of calories and the amount of grams of servings of carbohydrate, protein, and fat foods. There are brief discussions on testing urine, administering insulin under the supervision of the physician, and on personal hygiene to prevent infections of the skin. Patients are advised to visit the ophthalmologist and dentist regularly. The outstanding feature of this book is the excellence of the many illustrations.
