Abstract

To the Editor:—  The article "Iatrogenic Jaundice," published in The Journal, Nov. 26, 1960, page 1690, has scientific merit, but I object to its title, which is needlessly castigating. Dr. Schaffner is discussing drug reactions, not disorders caused by the physician. With the large increase recently in the use of medications which are believed to be potentially hepatotoxic, an article thus entitled helps open the door for a new type of malpractice suit against the innocent physician.
