Heartiest congratulations on your return to the old system of abstracts from the literature which was prevalent in The Journal for so many years. This consisted of the listing of all the subjects from important journals and the abstracting of a few of them, thus giving the reader a chance to know everything important that came out in the medical literature. As I earlier pointed out, no doctor can subscribe to all the journals, nor does he have time to go to the library and peruse all that he would like to. Your system gave him an opportunity to know what was being published so that, when he found a title he was interested in, he could get the appropriate journal from the library and read the article in full.You have recently, through the cooperation of other journals, begun publishing abstracts simultaneously with the publication of
