To the Editor:—
I have not conducted any studies on the actual change in protein bound iodine, nor on the effect of the administration of barium sulfate prior to I131-uptake studies; however, the following references are pertinent:In view of this information, it has been the policy of the Department of Roentgenology at Northwestern University Medical School and of our Department of Internal Medicine to insist that iodine studies be conducted prior to gastrointestinal x-ray examinations to avoid possible aberrations in results.
