Abstract

To the Editor:—  In the article on Dr. Mudd, (JAMA177:178 [Sept. 30] 1961), it is stated that he was pardoned by President Andrew Jackson on Feb. 8, 1869. Since President Jackson had been dead several years at that time, this becomes the miracle of the 19th Century. Is it possible that the author meant President Andrew Johnson?
