Abstract

This monograph is precisely what it is stated to be. It is an excellent elementary textbook which presents the fundamentals of electrocardiography in a concise and lucid manner. This book is designed for the beginning student, although it might be quite valuable for review by general practitioners and internists who see only limited numbers of tracings. It is not intended as a reference work, however. The presentation tends to be somewhat dogmatic at times. Discussion of many of the controversial issues in electrocardiography has been omitted.

An unusual feature of this text is the lack of any reproductions of actual tracings. Clear line drawings of electrocardiograms have been substituted instead. These have an advantage over actual tracings in that it is possible to omit confusing or irrelevant details and to emphasize important areas. The text is profusely illustrated with other line drawings which are well integrated with the text and
