Abstract

Along Atlantic City's Boardwalk: World's Largest Medical Meeting  Tens of thousands of physicians, their families, and guests streamed along Atlantic City's boardwalk last week as the world's largest medical meeting, the 116th Annual Convention of the American Medical Association got underway.More than 35,000 persons, including as many as 14,000 physicians, were expected to register before the sessions ended. More than 500 papers were presented at 23 scientific sessions; and more than 250 scientific exhibits were on display.Jama Medical News, in this and two succeeding issues, will report the highlights of the convention.This week, the report zeros in on the Multidiscipline Research Forum with accounts, among others, of bedside computers; surgery for obesity; and motorists and heart disease.'Majority Improved'
