Our rapidly expanding technology has brought many advantages. It also created a number of problems. Lately we have been hearing and reading about pollution. The streams and rivers are muddied with wastes, and the atmosphere is becoming dangerous to breathe. Another growing health problem brought on by our accelerated technology is noise pollution and hearing loss caused by longterm exposure to high noise levels. Many manufacturing processes pollute the air with noise loud enough to harm the hearing of the personnel working in the immediate area.
Enlightened management is rapidly taking measures to control occupational hearing loss by reducing industrial noise levels. Some companies have made great strides in protecting the hearing of their workers. Others have taken the view that the problem is best left unnoticed and will somehow disappear magically. Fortunately the latter view cannot prevail long because more and more knowledge is accumulating and being published in
