In a series of 2,600 cases at the Christ Hospital, drip infusion pyelography has been demonstrated to be as safe and well-tolerated as standard-dose pyelography; and drip infusion pyelography produces much better visualization. The improvement in visualization of the collecting systems led to a 30% reduction in the number of retrograde pyelograms performed. Drip infusion pyelography has become our routine method of examining the urinary tract with contrast materials.
