With this issue of The Journal we are inaugurating a separate listing of programs of audio tapes for the continuing education of physicians. While the list of such self-instructional materials is brief at present, it is likely to grow as the field of self-instruction itself grows. In this first attempt to compile a useful list, there will likely be some imperfection. We hope that those interested will provide constructive help to make future listings more useful.
The purpose of this listing is to make audio tapes and associated visual material available to a wider listening audience than has been possible previously. It is hoped that publication of such a list will lead to greater interest in the value of such educational materials.
Studies will probably be needed to determine answers to many questions: Does study with audio tapes lead to effective and efficient learning? How should the tapes be prepared
