A new method for performing cadaveric renal homoplastic grafts shortens ischemic time; reduces the possibility of tubular necrosis, genetic incompatibility, and trauma to the graft; and eliminates the necessity for emergency operation. These advantages are a result of temporarily connecting the proposed graft to an arteriovenous shunt before transplantation. Good results were obtained in six patients on 11 occasions.
