This book is one of a series of Monographs in Pathology and the result of a series of papers presented at the 58th annual meeting of the International Academy of Pathology in San Francisco. The editors have outdone themselves in producing this fine monograph. Certainly the distinguished list of authors, each expert in his particular field of platelet physiology, makes this book a successful contribution to the hemostatic literature. This particular reader was very impressed by the fact that the editors have written a final chapter summarizing all of the previous contributions and have added footnotes to call attention to differences between different points of view.
It appears that the platelet is finally receiving the attention it so richly deserves, and any serious student of hemostasis will be obligated to refer to this impressive monograph as source material. The somewhat high price may keep all of us from purchasing this
