JAMA. 1969;207(1):141. doi:10.1001/jama.1969.03150140093020
Abstract

Influenza virus vaccine, bivalent, contains formaldehyde-inactivated influenza types A2 and B grown on chicken-egg extraembryonic fluid. Thimerosal 1:10,000 is added as a preservative. Each 0.5 ml of this vaccine currently contains a minimum of 150 chick-cell agglutination (CCA) units of each of two strains of influenza A virus (Taiwan 1/64 [A2] and Japan 170/62 [A2]) and 300 CCA units of influenza B virus (Massachusetts 3/66 [B]).
