For the first time, this year's course listing is published as a supplement to JAMA and is being mailed with this issue. In the belief that all known institutions andorganizations offering programs of continuing medical education in the United States have had an opportunity to request a survey for accreditation of their continuing medical education programs, the AMA Council on Medical Education in June 1971, upon the recommendation of its Advisory Committee on Continuing Medical Education, took the following action: beginning with this year's course listing, only the continuing medical education activities of institutions and organizations that have been accredited for their programs of continuing medical education will be listed.
Because this is a transition year in the course listing and because some institutions and organizations could not be surveyed in time for their accredited status to be determined, the course listing also includes the names of those institutions and
