Abstract

Drug abuse in the US Army, Europe, is severe enough to result in numerous hospitalizations and occasional deaths. An abundance of all types of inexpensive, abusable drugs is available in Europe. During the past year there has been an increasing trend among a small percentage of US Army soldiers to abuse "hard" drugs and opiates. The US Army, Europe, has expended considerable resources and personnel to control drug abuse. Many of the drug-abuse education and rehabilitation techniques utilized in the US Army, Europe, appear applicable to the drugabuse problem in the United States.
