To the Editor.—
The letter by Marshall et al concerning "Balanoposthitis Secondary to Tetracycline Therapy" (223:559, 1973) implies a fixed drug eruption of similar mechanism to that seen with phenolphthalein. The case reports and photograph are quite compatible with the balanitis caused by Candida albicans. Unless the authors have excluded that possibility with a potassium hydroxide preparation, their conclusion is untenable.
