Eosinophilic granuloma of the gastrointestinal tract is a rare disease which may involve the gastrointestinal tract diffusely or as localized polyps. The diffuse form of the disease may be diagnosed by peroral small-bowel biospy. The clinical features mimic many conditions which require surgery, and the diagnosis can only be made histologically. When laparotomy is not urgently required, surgical exploration may be avoided by the use of peroral biopsy to make the diagnosis.
