To the Editor.—
I do not challenge Wyll and Hermann's note that the virus crosses the placenta, and I agree with their exhortation to caution and careful screening (225:1472-1476, 1973).But, I am impressed with the tragic and unnecessary loss of life that has occurred in these abortions. The observations reported illustrate the tragic irony of our casual approach to antenatal life and provide another example of the deleterious consequences of liberalized abortion laws.
