To the Editor.—
In reviewing the article "Obstructive Uropathy Mimicking Volume Depletion" (236:2096, 1976), I think that another point should be stressed. The histories of the two patients should immediately have aroused the suspicion of obstructive uropathy unless, as unfortunately happens frequently, a more accurate history was taken only when therapeutic measures did not lead to the expected benefits. The article contains the important, though not new, messages that not only is an accurate history necessary, but that one must not overlook the history as an essential tool for guidance in order to attend to the patient in the most effective and expeditious manner.
