To the Editor.  —The recent article regarding a "fee-for-time system" by Drs Wachtel and Stein1 was certainly thoughtprovoking. Are these authors socialists or communists? What do they think about food? Should all grocers be paid on a fee-for-time system? It should not make a difference what hours they keep, the quality of their service, their location, the type of store, or what they sell! Should there be a cap on their total income just in case a particular grocer might want to improve his family's situation? We wouldn't want him to become fatigued! Productivity should never be rewarded! We wouldn't want there to be any incentive for him to work hard, he should just want to do it!I can't find any physicians in my community who would support this system. Perhaps we could have nonphysicians act as physicians. Of course, we should pay them at the same rate
