Abstract

To the Editor.—  Marsha Meyer carefully critiqued the painting Linebacker (1981;246:2137). She noted the smallest details of posture and mood. One observation seems to have escaped her discerning eye. The player in the painting wears a number in the 70s, probably 70 or 71. These uniform numbers are commonly worn by tackles, almost never by linebackers. Just one more incongruity in an otherwise pleasant work of art.
