Abstract

This pioneering volume in an area of mounting interest represents the work of 52 authors, organized in eight major areas and 38 essays.

The roster of authors guarantees the quality of the material; they represent many of the outstanding neuroimmunologists in the Western world. In addition to a well-written, concise but informative general introduction, the topics covered include diseases of muscle, peripheral neuropathies, motor neuron diseases, multiple sclerosis, virology, malignancy, and therapy.

This volume will be valuable primarily for investigators, although clinicians will find much of interest in the clear explanations of both documented and speculative pathogenetic mechanisms for many common illnesses of the nervous system. Most of the articles are reviews, making available material that is published in many different journals and thus not always available to the average medical reader.
