—In the MEDICAL NEWS & PERSPECTIVES article entitled "In Vitro Fertilization Enters Stormy Adolescence as Experts Debate the Odds," published in the Jan 22/29 issue of THE JOURNAL (1988;259:464-469), it was incorrectly stated that the independent audit of the Northern Nevada Fertility Center in Reno had been completed. The audit will not be completed for several weeks. The probable birth rate of 20% cited by Geoffrey Sher, MD, was based on his clinic's own preliminary estimate.
