This volume maintains the tradition of the high quality of Annual Reviews. Readers who look forward each year to catching up with the new and important developments in clinical medicine and to updates on controversial topics will not be disappointed.
This year's volume contains 40 contributions on a wide variety of topics, some narrowly focused and others on broader aspects of pathophysiology, clinical features, and therapeutics. The largest number of contributions (11) deal with cardiovascular topics, but from four to six are concerned with renal diseases, hematology (oncology), and pulmonary, endocrine, and gastrointestinal problems.
The papers vary in length from six to 32 pages, each containing from 25 to 120 references, nearly all from recently published papers in readily accessible journals. There are about 70 illustrations and 35 tables, some of which are very comprehensive and helpful.
