Abstract

Current Pediatric Therapy, in its tenth edition, continues to be a major reference source for therapeutic pediatrics. Sydney Gellis and Benjamin Kagan have recruited many outstanding and well-respected contributorsmost of them new, providing different perspectives from previous editions.

As usual, the authors assume that a correct diagnosis is made, and emphasis is placed only on the therapy of the defined topic. Most sections are well written and succinctly outline necessary information. Tables incorporated in the chapters greatly enhance the information conveyed to the reader. Some chapters, however, are too brief or too general and fail to give specifics of recommended dosages or alternate therapeutic considerations. The early chapters on mental and emotional disturbances were, for the most part, not specific or practical enough to be of much help to the physician. Dr William Singer's section on attention-deficit disorders was the exception. While brief, it contained a reasonable approach for the
