Abstract

To the Editor.—  The authors of the commentary entitled "Why Fear Persists: Health Care Professionals and AIDS"1 have totally missed the reason why fear persists by health care professionals exposed to the risk of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome occupationally. The fear persists because there is no preventive vaccine for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, there is no curative therapy for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is uniformly 100% lethal.
