Abstract

In Reply.  —The majority of the patients in our study were white (93% in the placebo group, 86% in the salmeterol group, and 91% in the albuterol group); 2%, 4%, and 5%, respectively, were African American, and 4%, 8%, and 4%, respectively, were Hispanic. Because of the small number of nonwhites in the study, no statistical analyses were performed to compare differences in efficacy among ethnic groups.
