Abstract

In a recent story on revision of mammography guidelines (JAMA [MEDICAL NEWS] 1983;249:2143), a statement attributed to Myron Moskowitz, MD, should have read "... national statistics have indicated that although the incidence of breast cancer in women younger than 40 years does not justify mammographic screening in this age group, in women aged 40 and older who participated in the HIP study, the mortality is 30% lower in the study group than in the controls."
